Product Labelling Review

Overview

You are receiving this questionnaire because the Ministry for Regulation is about to commence a regulatory review into product labelling. This review is yet to be formally announced but will be in the coming days.

This questionnaire is for industry groups and/ or businesses who may have interest in the regulatory review of product labelling. Product labelling regulations affect most goods in New Zealand. 

The primary purpose of this engagement is to identify regulatory issues (rather than operational ones) with current labelling regulations. The information you provide will form the basis of the reviews focus areas and the Terms of Reference.

Why your views matter

The review will explore New Zealand’s alignment with international product labelling standards and examine regulatory barriers to interoperability with international markets. This includes looking at domestic labelling regulations, import/export considerations, and innovative labelling approaches.

Information submitted will be considered public unless you request it be treated in-confidence. The handling of submitted information will be guided by legal obligations (for example, the Official Information Act and the Privacy Act)
